    After discussions with the current site owner we regret to inform that there is now no ETA on bringing this tower back online.

    The outage was due to an interruption in service on the high speed fiber mesh that powers the Succeed.net network affected the entire mesh, bringing down our corporate and customer access.

    Our network engineers worked with the fiber carrier to resolve this issue and keep this downtime brief.

    Due to our infrastructure and engineering team outages of this sort are thankfully rare but should they ever occur in the future they will be addressed just as timely.

    *Emergency Maintenance Notice for May 22nd, 2012*

    We have decided to migrate all email customers to a new server due to recent instability of the current email server and its inability to protect against outgoing spam issues from hacked or phished customer accounts. This migration will provide better stability, security, and new features. The  new email system, called MagicMail, has been in use for more than a year providing email services for our more recently acquired ISP's and has proven itself to be extremely reliable and scalable.


    The migration took place on: Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012.

    Customer Impact:
    Different look and feel to webmail
    Change in spam blocking technology and the new spam folder system
    Spam digest email discontinued
    Outgoing spam blocking and limiting (over 150 emails/recipients sent in a 5 minute period will lock your account for 6 hours)
    Some customers with legacy settings within their e-mail program may need to change their SMTP and SSL port.

    Changes required by customer:
    Watch the new spam folder via new Webmail to whitelist “Allow Sender” any falsely blocked senders.  Any changes in anti-spam usually results in a least at few unexpected    results that may require your attention.
    Any customers still using port 25 or 465 to send email will need to change their email client configuration to use port 587 with authentication (see instructions below).

    Noteworthy changes or upgrades:

    ·      Two new webmail interfaces (low bandwidth “Lite” and full featured “Tuxedo”)
    ·      Ability to add / remove email accounts and forwards via new control panel
    ·      Ability to easily set up automated vacation messages

  • Our mail.succeed.net email server is reporting errors when sending even though it does send emails. The domains affected are (@gv.net, @ccxn.com, @world12.net, @sierrasky.com, @succeed.net)

    The error being reported is: mail server permanently rejected message (#5.3.0)

    The symptom is the email stays in the outbox, yet it does deliver the email to the recipient.  The problem is every time it retries it sends it again creating duplicates on the recipient side.  It appears that it was caused by an auto update that occurred at 3:30AM.

    Incoming email seems unaffected.

    We are working to resolve this ASAP.

    Any email in the outbox when a send/recieve is done is getting sent out, for the time being once the send/recieve is complete the email should be deleted or moved to the sent or draft folder.

    Mysterious spurts of packet loss throughout the day.  Super challenging to troubleshoot because issue doesn't last long enough to pinpoint.  Seems to affect something networks and not others.  Nothing on our side of fiber connections are showing any errors at all.  Running countless tests 24/7 to figure it out.

     

    4/20/2012 Update:  After being told nothing was wrong with our Comcast Enterprise fiber circuits the 4th Comcast technician discovered evidence of an major issue going back almost a week!  Tech 5 and 6 tell us the problem is really some kind of filter they (Comcast Enterprise) have for network broadcast packets.  Only problem is our broadcast rate is far below their limits yet their filter is showing activated.  We finally get them to disable filter.  Our Cisco routers show 5-50 packets per second for broadcast when their limit is 300.  We hoping the packet loss stays fixed and filter stays off.  We are scheduling a meeting with Comcast regional network manager.

    We will be also upgrading the OC/3 circuit in Sacramento to a Gbit Ethernet connection within 60 days.  Sacramento and Yuba City are connected via a Gigabit connection already so both locations with have redundant Gbit Internet connections from two different major internet carriers (he.net and Integra telecom).
