iPhone, iPad - Configure Existing POP3 Account

This article details configuring your iPhone or iPad for use with the Succeed.net email systems. When navigating through these menus do not click Cancel, only Done or Back as clicking Cancel will clear any settings changes you made.

  • From your home screen click Settings. Depending on the device the icon may look one of a few ways, below are the most common.

  • In the Settings window scroll down and click on Mail, Contacts, Calendars to open the list of email accounts on your device

  • In the list of ACCOUNTS click the email account you need to configure in this case Succeed.net This should take you to the settings for that account

  • You should see the name of the account at the top in this case that is Succeed.net
    • 1. Account - Make sure this is enabled. Depending on the device the sliding button should either say On or have a green background to it
    • 2. Name - Enter your name. This will be the name that goes out with outgoing email
    • 3. Email - This should already be filled in, this is an easy way to verify you are editing the account you intend to
    • 4. Description - This is the name that will show under Mail, Contacts, Calendars The more descriptive this is the bettter
    • 5. Host Name - mail.succeed.net
    • 6. User Name - Enter your full email address, this is the user name used to check for incoming email
    • 7. Password - Enter your email password

  • Scroll down and under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER click SMTP - This will open the list of outgoing servers for this email account.

  • In the SMTP screen. Click the server listed as the PRIMARY SERVER in this case that is mail.succeed.net This will take you to the settings for that server

  • You should now be on the settings for the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
    • 1. Server - This slider button should be set to On or have a Green background
    • 2. Host Name - mail.succeed.net
    • 3. User Name - Enter your full email address. Some devices list this as optional but it is required by the Succeed.net servers in order to send out email
    • 4. Password - Enter the email password for this account
    • 5. Use SSL - This slider button should be set to On or have a Green background
    • 6. Authentication - If this does not say Password > click on it and select Password from the list then click < Advanced to go back to the previous window
    • 7. Server Port - 587 With or without SSL this should be set to 587
    • At the top of the screen click Done This will take you back to the list of SMTP servers
    • At the list of SMTP servers click < Succeed.net to return to the general settings for the account

  • Scroll down and click on Advanced >

  • In the Advanced settings window
    • 1. MOVE DISCARDED MESSAGES INTO: - This should be set to Deleted Mailbox
    • 2. DELETED MESSAGES - Remove  After one week > This only effects mail downloaded to the phone. This will not effect the email on the server
    • 3. Use SSL - This sliding button should either be On or Green depending on your device
    • 4. Authentication - This should say Password > If it is anything other than that including nothing click on the area and select Password then click Advanced to go back to the previous screen
    • 5. Delete from server - If there are other devices that check this email account this should be Never > otherwise this should be set to "One week" or "When deleted from Inbox"
    • 6. Server Port - 995 This is the incoming (POP3) SSL port
    • At the top of the screen click < Succeed.net which will take you back to the general settings for the account

  • At the top of the window click Done, this should take you back to Mail, Contact, Calendars
  • Click your Home button to take you back to your home screen
  • Open your Email app and send out a test message to verify the settings have taken effect and your email functions as it should
