Microsoft Outlook 2010 - Configure Existing POP3 Account

Setup Microsoft Outlook 2010 (Windows OS)
  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2010

    open outlook
     
  • Within Outlook 2010 in the menu bar click File

    click file in the menu
     
  • In the File Menu:
    1. Click Info
    2. Under Account Information click the dropdown menu and select the account that you would like to update
    3. Click Account Settings button
    4. In the dropdown menu that appears click Account Settings...
       
    Open account settings
     
  • Select the account to edit
    1. Click on the account that you would like to update the settings on in this case jdoe@succeed.net
    2. Click Change...
       
    select account to change and click change
     
  • Change information on the Internet E-Mail Settings page
    User Information
    • 1.Your Name: from John Doe to your name
    • 2. E-Mail Address: from jdoe@succeed.net to your email address
    Server Information
    • 3. Account Type: Click the dropdown menu and selet POP3 from the list
    • 4. Incoming mail server: mail.succeed.net
    • 5. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.succeed.net
    Logon Information
    • 6. User Name: This should be the same as your emails address in step 2 in this section, in Joe's case this is jdoe@succeed.net
    • 7. Password: Enter your email password here
    • 8. Remember password: This should be checked
    • Click More Settings ... and a small window will open called Internet E-mail settings

  • In the Internet E-mail Settings window
    Click on the General tab
    • Click on the text box under Mail Account fill in what you would like to refer to this account as. In this case it is jdoe@succeed.net
    Click on the Outgoing Server
    • Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
    • Check the box next to Use same settings as my incoming mail server

    Click the Advanced tab
    • 1. Incoming server (POP3): - 995
    • 2. This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) - Check
    • 3. Outgoing server (SMTP): - 587
    • 4. Use the following type of encrypted connection: - TLS


    • Click OK
       
  • On next window click the Next > button then click Finish
     
  • In the Account settings page click the Close button to close the window
